  • In John Chapter 10, Yeshua presents himself as the Good Shepherd. Amazingly, of all the teachings I have ever heard on the deity of Yeshua or His claims to be God, this passage was never used. In truth, there is only one Good Shepherd and that would be God. David sings in Psalm 23, “The Lord is my shepherd…” There can be no mistake that Yeshua was saying in John 10, that He and the Shepherd of Psalm 23 are One in the same.
  • Moses and Aaron brought together all the elders of the Israelites, and Aaron told them everything the LORD had said to Moses. He also performed the signs before the people, and they believed. And when they heard that the LORD was concerned about them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshiped. (Ex. 4:29-31)

  • “It’s not right to negotiate with the Palestinians when they are firing rockets at us every day.” (jpost.com) This quote by Avigdor Lieberman, the leader of Israel Beiteinu (Israel, our Home) political party and the minister of strategic affairs in the Olmert cabinet, pretty much sums up my position. Aside from the biblical admonitions of carving up God’s land (Joel 3:2 – read it!) and the judgment that comes upon those who insist upon it, the idea of giving into the demands of the “kings of the earth” (Psalms 2:2) is ludicrous from even a human standpoint…
  • “I don’t need anyone!” are words typically uttered by those of us who have been wounded through relationships. How do I know? Because it is the opposite of how we were created. God formed us with a built-in dependency on other humans. No man is an island. Paul shows the nonsense of our tendency to think that we are not mutually dependent on each other…
  • I love what happens in our main worship services. There’s something really inspiring about standing shoulder to shoulder with hundreds of others, row after row, eyes all fixed in the same direction and singing and shouting with one voice for the same cause. You feel like you’re part of the army of God!
  • Welcome back! I love September. We, like sheep have returned to the fold after a much-needed vacation. I bet a lot of you are glad to be back to work. Sometimes doing too little can be more tiring that doing too much. I’ve been reading through the book of Proverbs recently. It’s interesting to see the number of times King Solomon talked about diligence in our work. Here’s just a sample:
  • There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven… a time to tear down and a time to build… a time to tear and a time to mend… Ecclesiastes 3:1,3, 7 As I compose these thoughts, construction is going on across the street from our apartment. Actually, at the moment it seems more like destruction than construction, as the demolition crew is tearing away at the building’s facade.
  • When our eldest son, Jamie was just a toddler there was a stage that he would ask us several times in one hour “Where we goin’?“ I’d patiently answer, “Well, nowhere right now, honey. Maybe later.” Then ten minutes later he’d ask the same question.
  • “Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and the Messiah will shine on you. Be very careful, then, how you live — not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.” Ephesians 5:14-17 Time is a precious commodity. So valuable is time that throughout history man has been obsessed with inventing better and better time-saving tools. No wonder hi-tech is the fastest growing industry today.
  • This month we will celebrate Shavuot the Feast of Weeks. This year it falls on the 23rd of May. This Festival is one of the three Pilgrim Festivals when the Jewish People are commanded to go up to the place of the Lord’s Tabernacle and later the Temple. One of the interesting things about this is that while it is such a major Feast of the Lord the exact date to celebrate this festival is not given at least not a calendar date.
