We are a Disciple-making Community!
King of Kings Community Jerusalem is called to be a compelling, Messiah-centered, Spirit-empowered, disciple making community that reveals the true face of Yeshua to Israel and to the nations. This lines up with what is commonly referred to as the "Great Commission"; Yeshua/Jesus gave, found in Matthew 28:19-20.
During the days of His public ministry on earth, Yeshua preached the gospel to multitudes of people, but He spent most of His ministry time with just 12 men. These disciples of His received the full explanation of Yeshua's teachings and the benefit of personal friendship with Him. He taught them the Scriptures, mentored them in ministry, & modeled before them the character of the Father. The Lord's ordained method for preparing ministries was then and continues to be the investing of God's Word and one's personal life into that of another.
In the Body of Messiah today we have scores of talented and gifted people, but are limited when it comes to having mature, seasoned men and women who model the nature and lifestyle of Yeshua. One of the greatest areas of lack in the Church worldwide is godly character. Many believers need to be taught how to grow in intimacy with Jesus, how to pray effectively, and how to apply God’s Word to their lives. One of the best ways to become a true disciple of Yeshua and to disciple others is in a small group setting of Bible study and memory, prayer and accountability. This type of small discipleship growth group does three important things:
- It makes true disciples.
- It identifies potential spiritual leaders.
- It gives people the close relationships they need. It provides them with a setting where they can share openly with others and ask any questions they may have.
If there is a shortcut to maturity in the Kingdom of God, it is when mature, godly men and women purposefully seek to impart God's Word and ways to others who want to grow in the Lord. Although relating to people from a distance may seem easier and less demanding personally and emotionally, we must get alongside others to help them grow into spiritual maturity. We must be willing to not only give them the gospel of God, but also to impart our own lives to them (1Thessalonians 2:8). This is true disciple-making!
King of Kings Community offers discipleship growth groups weekly during most of the year. Breaks are taken for high holy days and during part of the summer. Because of the importance of discipleship growth groups, the cell groups and Close Encounters ministry have been suspended to allow the participants time to get involved in strategic disciple-making. If you are in Jerusalem and interested in hearing more about this intentional disciple-making ministry, please contact our office or emaill Reuven and/or Yanit Ross.
