Jack London the great adventure writer of the exploration for gold and the rough wilds of North America writes about the difficult life of man; His passions, his joys and what comes in between. In his writings we see the depth of man and his struggle for survival in a difficult environment. These men struggle through life, often in confrontation one with another, leading lonely lives.
In 2005 in the Wilds of Jerusalem I believe we can see the same struggles around us. We may not be struggling with a dog sleigh, but we may be struggling with the neighbor underneath us or the car in front of us in the traffic jam. Many times our men feel alone in this struggle. We are bombarded with temptations and attacks from the moment we step out of bed in the morning.
The Lord is leading us as a congregation to build a community that will impact our city, land and world. We realize that a foundation for this needs to be men who are serving God to their fullest potential. It is common to see women easily connecting with the community life of the congregation, but for a man the “touchy-feely” picture of community life seems foreign and threatening.
Community as a whole requires at times sacrifice of my needs, wishes, desires for the sake of others. Modeling our lives after the master Yeshua requires a true servant heart. We are granted gifts and talents by God, not to be hidden in a hole in the ground, but instead to be used for the building and furthering of His Kingdom here on earth.
We believe that our men need more F’s in their lives. Faith, Friendship, Fellowship and Fun. This F4 will produce a fruitful community in which our men can take the place God is calling them to. This in turn will be a catalyst for growth for the women and children as they see the men of the congregation stand up with boldness and be all that God would have of them.
Our King of Kings community will provide an environment in which our men are built up, encouraged and equipped not only to help one another with the needs of our community, but to reach far beyond our present scope, enabling us to be a true lighthouse in a darkening world. We need to take responsibility for the world we are living in. We will reach out into the wilds around us and bring security and hope. We will have fun together sometimes leaving the mundane behind and encountering adventure that is only around the corner as we intentionally develop friendship that will last. These friendships will be a safe place for us to be accountable one to another, thus strengthening our cord and resisting the enemy of our souls not on our own alone, but as a united team.
Our community is sending out a general call-up at this time. Let us men gather together with an expectancy to meet with God. I am sure we will see true change in our lives and the lives of those around us.
For the sake of His Kingdom
